That is where the noise is born.

Dispersion is information. AAOI's 12% is a small-cap move with a heavy Microsoft overhang — consistent with short covering, option gamma, or an event-driven headline, not a fundamental rerating. LITE's 6.47% is the laggard print. If this were pure AI beta, all three names would move in lockstep. They didn't. The read: capital is rotating from the leaders into the laggards. There is also a crowding dynamic visible in the move. The market had been a one-stock show — Nvidia — for most of 2024. When money starts spreading into the deeper supply chain, it marks a transition from concentrated momentum to sector-wide re-rating. This is the picks-and-shovels phase: investors who missed the GPU move buy the optics names, the power names, the memory names. In crypto terms, this is the rotation from Bitcoin dominance into the alts — a signal of risk appetite, not necessarily of fundamental improvement.
